Because Of Taylor Decker Injury Update To Lions Rushing Attack Coming Fast?

Detroit Lions left tackle Taylor Decker returned to face the Philadelphia Eagles, September 22 2019, after missing a game versus the Los Angleses Chargers. He wasn’t the only Lion to return from injury in week 3, Jarrad Davis ankle, who missed both games against the LA and the Arizona Cardinals, so the team got closer to playing with its’ full compliment of players. The best thing about Decker’s injury report is that he figured out something in the way to block for Matthew Stafford, because just as Tyrell Crosby did playing against the Chargers, no sacks were allowed from the left tackle spot, and none overall as well for the second week. Here’s an account of the game’s snap count, after checking it see why we think it’ll lead to the Lions running the ball better as the season progesses…

The Lions beat the Eagles 27-24 on Sunday in Philadelphia to move to 2-0-1. They return to Ford Field for a matchup with the high-powered, undefeated Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4.

— Graham Glasgow, Joe Dahl and Kenny Wiggins remained in a rotation at the guard spots on the line. Wiggins’ snaps were down this week, but he still came on for 20 plays. Dahl was on for 58 snaps while Glasgow logged 50.

— Speaking of returns from injury, left tackle Taylor Decker played all 64 offensive snaps. Decker missed last week’s win against Los Angeles due to a back injury. Tyrell Crosby played six snaps on special teams in relief of Decker.

OFFENSE

OL Frank Ragnow 64 (100%)

OL Rick Wagnew 64 (100%)

OL Taylor Decker 64 (100%)

QB Matthew Stafford 64 (100%)

OL Joe Dahl 58 (100%)

Currently the Lions are positioned as 13th in the ESPN power rankings and that’s without having fullly established the effective rushing attack that they’ve want so badly. But, with keeping Matthew Stafford upright more effectively, it’s allowing the tight ends and  wide receivers to become a player that defenses will have to give more attention too, so you would have to think that the lanes will eventually open to run the ball for Kerryon Johnson, because teams will be forced to NOT play 8 in the box to stop the run…and once that happens the NFL will have a problem on its’ hands!

We think it’ll happen, what about you?
